TOOLKIT: Resilience as a Component of RYLA

box.png

POPULATION

RYLA, (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards/Academy), is one of the three major youth oriented programs within Rotary. It provides high school age students the opportunity to learn leadership skills which they can then take back to their high school and utilize for their remaining high school and adult careers. There are many skills that are required in being an effective leader including Resilience, both individually and as a leader in promoting it within others. This toolkit provides an opportunity to incorporate a component on resilience during the RYLA experience.

FOCUS

Students attending RYLA in any District can benefit from this as a session integrated into the District curriculum.

OVERVIEW

Students, as well as their sponsoring schools and Rotary clubs, expect that RYLA will provide them with lifelong skills they can develop over their lifetime. This session on Resilience will provide that benefit.

BENEFITS

Youth will return from RYLA with more self-confidence and the ability to support peers in their schools and in their lives. Resilience skills are protective factors when youth face mental health challenges.

COST

There is no cost for this Toolkit.
